New Horizon

New Horizon is a science fiction world which holds the heart and soul of fantasy. For the love of creating and playing games while dreaming away to places of mystery and adventure this world was created. We hope you will find it as entertaining and magical as we do, and that you will visit it often.

There are many things about New Horizon which makes the world unique. Wafans for one thing are often confused with robots but who are in fact living beings. Medeans are what could be seen as the next evolution of humanity. They are humans who were "merged" with the unique fauna of New Horizon and they are truly exceptional. The unique flora of this world is yet another thing which makes New Horizon stand out, but it's still nothing compared to the alien wildlife found all over the moon, or the unexplainable phenomenon known as Volitaires, Moai, Motes, Whoris and Ether.

New Horizon is a world of action and adventure, where people can explore enormous areas from the great heights of the Azuremar Mountains to the dark depths of the Narehlian jungles. Adventurers are encouraged to explore every available part of the world, but the world also shows a tone of seriousness about it. Not all adventures end happily, even if some do. However, some individuals are still humorous enough to sprinkle the world with some rays of happiness.

New Horizon, even though it is a "science fiction" type of world, was created with the feeling of being "fantasy". People are required to run all around the world on foot or on mounts, explore forests, mountains, caverns and deserts. If it hadn't been for the Wafans and certain technologies it would probably have been seen as nothing but a world of "fantasy".

Reaching Beyond the Stars

Long ago, the 20th century world that we once knew passed away. Rather than coming to a close with the extinction of humanity it ended with the birth of its sister race, the wafans. Without realizing that this new species existed, humanity continued its hubristic methods of dominating the world and, in the process, unwittingly enslaved the wafans.

Since time immemorial, subjugated people have fought their way to independence, and the revolution that occurred between the wafans and the humans was no different.

After nearly destroying Earth, the two sides came to recognize one another and in the same breath, understand that their continued mutual existence was tenuous at best. If they were to survive, they would need to colonize other worlds and travel amongst the stars. In hopes of finding such a place, the colony ship Icarus set out for the distant star system of Epsilon Eridani.

Rather than finding an inhabitable planet, the colonists discovered a verdant and water covered moon, which they aptly named New Horizon. New Horizon was far from perfect, as they soon discovered: savage wildlife and daunting geography would make their new home a difficult place to survive. However, as the distant descendants of those original colonists are about to discover, the greatest danger on their new world is not a beast or a forest, but basic human nature and the unknown.

Taking the First Step

About 250,000 humans and wafans from Earth came to the moon named New Horizon in the year 2325 AD. To this date, they have lived on the moon for about 170 years. Only two million people (humans and wafans) live on New Horizon at present. The moon's landmass is much larger than that of Earth. The people of New Horizon are spread out over the different continents, living in major cities that lie at least a few thousand kilometers away from each other.

There are only about ten large cities on New Horizon with a population above 25,000 but there are also more than a thousand cities which are very small, with a population far below 10,000 people. Small cities usually have a big problem surviving on their own because the savage wildlife is capable of destroying anything that's not strong enough to defend itself.

Factions and Continents

Factions and continents are two totally different things. Continents are defined by the land and they are separated from each other by large expanses of water. Factions are governments, defined by humanly laid out borders. There are 7 main factions on the moon. The Council of Avalon does not consider itself to be a faction but rather an international organization whose main purpose is to facilitate cooperation in international law, international security, economic development, social progress, human rights, and the achieving of world peace. The 7 main factions of New Horizon are all members of the Council of Avalon. These factions are: Aquilon's Reach, The Port of Narehl, New Chanian Conclave, The Quisivati, Trapper Town (Walk of Man), Warhead Keep, and Xanadu. Other factions exist, but they are not members of the Council of Avalon.

New Horizon is a very young colony. The amount of safe land travel routes is therefore fairly low. Air travel is prohibitively expensive for anything but shipping of essential goods. As such, travel by land is still often fraught with peril. This is probably a solid contributing factor to the worlds statistical leading cause of death: 'Eaten by a wild animal'. Travel by land is often accomplished by taking the flattest route possible across long roundabout routes on unmaintained dirty roads, or travelling cross country on the hardy native animals that will tolerate rides, all the while hoping one does not run into bandits, which of course leads to the statistical second most common cause of death: 'Death by gunshot or stab wound'.

New Horizon has a surface area of 420 738 018 km².
Its surface land area (45%) is 189 116 497 km² and its surface water area (55%) is 231 621 521 km².

Youzem is the largest continent on the moon, spread out over an area that is 72,339,220 km² in size, which equals the size of both Asia and Africa on Earth combined. The northern part of Youzem is where you find the largest mountain range on the moon, the Azuremar Mountian Range. The southern part of Youzem contains the mighty jungles of Narehl, stretching out all the way from the west to the east. The geography of Youzem is divided into three zones: Walk of Man, Azuremar Plains, and Narehl.

Neo Titania is two things, the name of the continent where Xanadu is located, and a deserted colony (the first colony settlement) near the large inland sea named Caledonia Sea. Neo Titania is the third largest continent on moon, right after Youzem and Verdura combined with the South Pole. Its surface area is approximately 24,277,619 km² in size. Neo Titania is almost as large as the continent named Africa on Earth.

Aquilon is as large as both the continents USA and Europe on Earth combined, covering an area that is 19,759,650 km² in size. It spreads out widely over the north part of the moon, representing a wild terrain that is as cold as it is deadly.

New Chania is the smallest continent on the moon, no more than 775,718 km² in size. Seemingly a simple farming community, New Chania is actually on the cutting edge of biological studies, and Wafan software development. The New Chanian Conclave is one of the factions of New Horizon.

The Chain of Tears is a long string of massive islands, loosely connecting Neo Titania to the Youzem continent. Most of the islands are somewhat rocky, with a tropical or sub tropical climate. The total landmass spans over an areas which approximately equal to 5,497,019 km². This area is 2/3rd the size of the Earth continent named Australia, although it's spread out over several thousand of small and large islands found in the Cain Ocean, south of Neo Titania.

Verdura is a totally unknown place on New Horizon, mostly unexplored by humans and wafans. Most people have never been there, and those who have, have only tapped the surface a little bit. Owl City is more or less the only place which humans and wafans have visited.
